Getting root in OS X
Root is by default disabled in OS X. We will in this small guide show you how you can enabled and get access to the root account on your Mac running OS X.. There are 3 ways this can be done : Via the Command Line, NetInfo and the OS X System CD. It's all done in the matter of minutes.

1. The Command Line
The geek approach to root. Launch the Terminal app, you'll find this app in Applications/Utilites
When it has launched you'll have access to the core of OS X.. the command line. Now over to our task, getting root.

Simply type : sudo passwd root
Enter your admin password, and then enter a new root password. Confirm the pass and, done!

2. The OS X CD
Insert your MacOS X Installer CD and launch the installer, and click restart. (Or you can restart while holding C down). Wait for the Mac to boot of the CD.

When it's finished go to the Installer Menu, and choose Change Password..
Then enter a new root password, save and restart.

3. NetInfo Manager
Open the NetInfo Manager. Found in Applications/Utilities/NetInfo Manager.

Choose Domain>Security>Authenticate (look at the screenshot)

You'll be asked to authenticate. Use your admin login/pass. Then go to the same menu again, and choose enable root. Give it a pass, and you're done.
