Changing bootscreen under OS X
In this guide we will show you how to change the bootscreen under MacOS X 10.1. It's quite simple, and only takes a few steps. So let's get to it.

Changing bootscreen
1. Open the Terminal application (Found in Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
2. Type "cd /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemStarter/QuartzDisplay.bundle/Resources"
3. Type "open ./" to open the directory in the Finder

You'll then see to files (like on the screenshot). The file called "BootPanel.pdf" is the file used in the bootscreen. Replace this with any other 640x480 pdf file and name it "BootPanel.pdf"

It's wise to keep a backup of the original file. Then you can easily replace the file and get the system back to normal whenever you get tired of your custom Bootpanel.

You can find premad bootpanels at ResExellence.com
